NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The Walsh Cavaliers women's soccer team finished the non-conference schedule with a home game against the #11 Ferris State University Bulldogs on Thursday (Sept. 19) afternoon.
In a matchup between former GLIAC opponents, Ferris State defeated the Cavaliers 2-1.
The Bulldogs scored early with a goal in the fourth minute. In the ninth minute, Walsh answered back with an equalizer. After a corner kick, Olivia Peters served up a pass to Alexis Meffert, who buried it past the keeper from about five yards out.
The game remained tied through halftime as Walsh led the shot advantage 10-6.
Both teams kept the game deadlocked at one until the 76th minute when Ferris State took the 2-1 lead. The game ended with the final score of 2-1.
The Bulldogs outshot the Cavaliers 10-6 in the second half as each team took 16 shots in the game.
Mickey McClanahan made four saves out of six shots on goal for Walsh.
Conference play will begin on Saturday (Sept. 21) as the Cavaliers will travel up the road to face the Pioneers of Malone University at 1:00 PM.
