(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Despite taking an early lead, Walsh couldn't avoid a first half blitz by visiting Lake Erie and fell by a score of 15-6 at Vasco Field on Tuesday afternoon. The Cavaliers fell to 3-6 overall on the season and 2-4 in the conference while the Storm improved to 4-6 overall and 2-4 in the conference.
Lane Brunkala gave the Cavaliers an early lead as she slipped on past the goalie just 2:10 into the game. Lake Erie tied the game just over six minutes later, but Walsh responded 33 seconds later as Amanda Hodel scored.
At that time, the Storm took control of the game and shut out Walsh for the rest of the half. Walsh equaled Lake Erie in goals in the second half, but the first half deficit was too much to overcome.
Brunkala scored one of those goals on a free position shot to pace the offense.
Anastasia Crawford led the Lake Erie offense with four goals and an assists.
Walsh returns to action against Grand Valley State to close out a five-game home stand this Friday. First draw is currently scheduled for 6 p.m.
