(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – A fast start by Lake Erie doomed Walsh as it fell 20-7 to its northern rivals at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium in GLIAC action Friday evening. The Storm (6-6, 3-2) raced out to a 7-0 lead en route to even its record before the Cavaliers (5-9, 1-3) were able to score.
Maria Noble (So., Westerville, OH/Olentangy Orange) eventually put one in the back of the net on an assist from Steffi Zepp (So., Dublin, OH/Coffman) to end the drought. She added a second on a power play to make the score 7-2. Zepp then score her first of three goals to bring Walsh within four with 11:56 left to go in the first half, but the Cavs could get no closer as the Storm scored five consecutive goals before halftime.
The Cavaliers are back in action for a GLIAC contest at Ursuline on Sunday. The penultimate game of the regular season starts at 2 p.m.
