Men's Track Develops at Mount Union Invite

ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Walsh University men's track and field teams returned to the track on Saturday (Feb. 2) at the Jim Wuske Invitational at Mount Union. 

"We had a very encouraging day today," said head coach Rob Mizicko. "We saw a lot of our younger athletes really step up. It is always fun to watch many of thse young athletes improve and develop early in the season."

Beau Boyden won the 3000-meter run with a time of 9:03.13. 

In the 60-meter hurdles, Lane Knoch qualified for the finals with a run of 8.26 and then finished third with a 8.30 time. 

Ronald Robinson won the men's triple jump by over two feet as he jumped 13.47 meters (44-2.5 feet). 

For the men's shot put, Walsh finished second and third overall. James Miller was second with a throw of 16.19 meters, while Dante Penza finished in third, throwing 16.13 meters. Both were NCAA Division II provisional marks. 

Bradley Gallitz placed third in the men's weight throw as he finished the day with a top throw of 16.98 meters. 


The team will compete at Grand Valley State and Oberlin next weekend.
