PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The Walsh Cavaliers men's lacrosse team looked to continue the Great Midwest slate on the road in Painesville, Ohio.
The Storm of Lake Erie College outlasted the Cavaliers 10-9 on Tuesday (April 12) night at Jack Britt Memorial Stadium. Walsh drops to 3-8 overall and 2-2 in the G-MAC.
Lake Erie started the game with back-to-back goals in the first six minutes. Within 90 seconds of the last Storm goal, Colby Bowman and Marcus Brown tied the game with 7:08 in the first quarter. Lake Erie ended the first quarter with a 3-2 lead after scoring with 2:32 remaining.
Bowman scored the first three goals of the second quarter, putting the Cavaliers up 5-3. Evan Bradley and Issac Stertz both added assists for Walsh. With 5:40 left in the half, Lake Erie pulled within one goal. Evan Bradley made it 6-4 with an unassisted goal at the 2:09 mark. The Storm closed the half with three straight goals for a 7-6 lead.
Sully Dowling scored less than four minutes into the third quarter as the game was tied at seven. The last two goals of the quarter were from Lake Erie as they led 9-7 after three periods.
With 7:43 left in the fourth quarter, Bradley cut the lead to 9-8 as Walsh looked to rally back. The Storm made it 10-8 with 3:27 in the game. Dowling scored with 1:32 left to close the game. Lake Erie won 10-9.
Bowman scored four goals in the game while Bradley had three points (two goals and one assist) along with Dowling scoring twice. Marcus Brown added one goal.
Patrick Cuddihy made 17 saves in goal.
Walsh heads to Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday (April 16) for a ECC/G-MAC Challenge Cup matchup.
