MEN'S GOLF CAPTURES CAV CLASSIC TEAM CHAMPION TITLE

CANTON, OHIO- The Walsh University Men's golf team wrapped up their annual home event, the Cav Classic, as team champions. The 54-hole event was hosted at Glenmoor Country Club. Mother nature struck again as round 1 and 2 were played in rain, wind and freezing temperatures. Round 3 provided the field a much better experience, one that the Cavaliers took advantage of after posting a 54 hole round total of 867. The Cavaliers led the field in birdies, eagles and scoring on the par 4's and par 5's.

FOR THE CAVALIERS:

  • Fifth year Senior, Noah Frase, led the Cavs over the 54 holes. Frase posted rounds of 74-69-72.
  • Frase's second round 69 was tied for the low round of day one. The lefty would finish in third place overall for the event.
  • Frase tallied 2 eagles over 54 holes and led the field in scoring on par 5's at a whopping 9-under par. 
  • Fellow fifth year teammate, Brandon Netzel, was right behind after posting a 54-hole total of 216.
  • Netzel tallied rounds of 76-70-70 to leave him with a fourth place finish overall. 
  • Freshmen, Cory Gasaway, was next in line for the maroon and gold. Gasaway tallied a first round 77, followed it up with a 2-under 70 in round two and a one-under 71 in round three. 
  • Gasaway led the field in par 3 scoring and carded 2 eagles during his rounds. 
  • Kyle Buzaki paced the Cavs with an opening round 77, followed by a 74 in round two and an even par 72 for round three.
  • Buzaki finished tied for eleventh place.
  • Brandon Jatich rounded out the top five for the Cavs, after carding rounds of 72-80-75. Jatich placed tied for twenty-second place.
