MEN'S GOLF OPENS SPRING SEASON IN SUNSHINE STATE
TAMPA, FLORIDA- The Walsh University Men's golf team competed in their first event of the 2022 Spring season. The Cavaliers hosted the Saddlebrook Spring Kickoff at Saddlebrook Golf & Tennis resort just outside of Tampa, Florida.  Six teams joined the Cavaliers in Florida: Northwood, Northern Michigan, Ave Maria, St. Thomas University, St. Xavier University, and individuals from the University of Texas-Permian Basin. The Cavaliers would end day one a few shots off the lead behind St. Thomas University. The maroon and gold made a valiant push on day two, and posting the low team round of the day. After battling 25-30 mph winds on day three, the men would end up finishing just 4 shots shy of 1st place after shooting a 3 day total of 908.

FOR THE CAVALIERS:
  • Noah Frase led the way after finishing in solo second place after posting rounds of 74-71-76.
  • Brandon Netzel was next in line for the Cavs with rounds of 73-75-77 landing him in fourth place overall.
  • Kyle Buzaki was next up for the Cavs with an opening round of 81, followed by back to back rounds of 75.
  • Cory Gasaway topped off the top four after tallying rounds of 76-81-77.
  • Brandon Jatich(81-78-77), Max Crookston(87-78-84), Brandon Beck(84-82-78) and Nate Albrecht(84-81-90) also played in the three day event.
 
Northwood University came from behind on day 3 to take the overall lead and would walk away with team champion honors after totaling 904. Kade Cannon from St. Thomas University won medalist honors after firing rounds of 68-73-78.
 
The Cavaliers hit the road to Lexington March 19-20 where they'll compete in the SVSU Spring Kickoff.
