MEN'S GOLF CAPTURES FIRST TITLE OF THE YEAR AT MALONE FALL CLASSIC, POSTS ANOTHER PROGRAM BEST

CANTON, OHIO- The Walsh University Men's Golf team has put on back to back record breaking performances this weekend. The men wrapped up a 2 day stint in Michigan on Sunday and got back to work Monday and Tuesday at Glenmoor Country Club for the Malone Fall Classic. The Cavs would grab their first win of the season after posting a program best opening round of 6 under par 282 followed by a Round 2 total 293. A windy day three and a battle for first place led to a hole by hole showdown. The maroon and gold were locked in after posting a final round 296 that would help them secure their first victory of the year.

ROUND 1 & 2:

  • Kyle Buzaki carded the second lowest round in program history after he shot a -6 66. 
  • Buzaki went on to shoot even par 72 in round 2 yesterday and he headed into day 2 sitting in 1st place individually.
  • Brandon Netzel opened up round 1 by carding a -1 71. He kept it consistent in round 2 and posted even par 72.
  • Noah Frase followed his teammate and posted rounds of 72-71 during day 1.
  • Brandon Beck rounded out the top 5 after posting 79-80.
  • Max Crookston(71-76), Cory Gasaway(75-79) and Nate Albrecht(80-84) all competed as individuals for the Cavs.

ROUND 3:

Robert Holden from Ohio Dominican would take the individual medalist title after an impressive 54 hole total of -8.

The Men head to Findlay Country Club Monday & Tuesday(September 20-21) to compete in the Doc Spragg Invitational.
