(Canton, OH) Former Canton McKinley running back Monterae Williams came home and scored four TDs, and rushed for 187 yards in Findlay's 26-7 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference win over Walsh at Fawcett Stadium today. Walsh closes the season with three straight losses and finishes 3-8 overall and 2-8 in the GLIAC. The loss also denied Walsh Head Coach Jim Dennison is 200th career collegiate win. Findlay closes 7-3 overall and in conference play.
Monterae Williams capped his terrific career with 37 carries for 187 yards and four touchdowns. He ends the season with 1,348 rushing yards and 21 touchdowns, the third highest single season total in Oilers' school history.
Findlay scored twice in the first quarter, as Williams reached pay dirt on runs of six and one-yard. Walsh cut the lead in half at 6:14 of the second period when Toba Olarewaju (Sr., Youngstown, OH/Christian) scored from seven yards out. The Oilers answered on the next drive, as they marched 71 yards in eight plays, with Williams capping the drive with a score from three yards out. The Oilers missed the point after and led 20-7 at the half.
Walsh had plenty of opportunities in the third quarter as the teams' traded punts, with neither side putting points on the board. The Oilers put the game away at 10:11 of the fourth quarter when Williams scored his fourth TD on a six-yard run.
Olarewaju, in his final game for Walsh, rushed for 133 yards on 26 carries.
