(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - Michael Lee (Sr., Barberton, OH/HS) homered for the fourth time in his last five games as Walsh (13-15, 5-5) completed a three-game GLIAC sweep of Northwood University (10-12, 3-6) winning 8-3 today. The Cavs have won their last four games. They host the University of Findlay in a three-game series starting on Saturday with a 1 pm double header. All three games will be broadcast live on TEAMLINE.
Walsh scored three runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 3-0 lead. Drew Link (Sr., Granville, OH/HS) and Brook Clark (So., Canton, OH/McKinley) put together back-to-back one out singles, and Lee was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Andrew Stalnaker (Fr., Canton, OH/Jackson) then singled to right to score Link and Clark, and Lee would score when the ball got by the Northwood rightfielder.
Ian Drapcho (Sr., Dover, OH/HS) kept the Timbervolves bats at bay, as Walsh led 3-1 heading into the seventh inning. The Cavs would add three runs in the bottom of seven, when Lee hit his fifth homer of the season, scoring Link and Clark who singled.
After Northwood added two runs in the top of the eighth, Walsh got the two runs back on a Link RBI single and a passed ball. Link finished the day 4-4 with two runs scored, and was Clark was 2-3 with a walk, sacrifice bunt and two runs scored.
Drapcho (1-0) went 6.2 innings to earn his first win of the season. The right-hander fanned six, scattered seven hits and did not walk a batter. Jared Bettura (Jr., Canfield, OH/HS) worked a one-two-three ninth.
