NORTH CANTON, Ohio – The Division 2 Athletics Directors Association (D2 ADA) announced the 2021-22 recipients of the D2 ADA Academic Achievement Awards on Tuesday (August 2).
Among the record 16,639 student-athletes from 169 D2 institutions, Walsh University ranked second in the nation with 247 award winners. The Cavaliers were in a 1-2 sweep from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference after the University of Findlay (273) topped the list.
"We are incredibly proud of the achievements that our student-athletes have accomplished this year in the classroom, in the community and in athletics," said Interim Vice President of Athletics/Athletic Director Jason Fautas. "This academic achievement of being ranked second in the country is a combination of hard work, dedication and commitment to being the best in the classroom while being a Division II student-athlete."
To be eligible for the Academic Achievement Award, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or more, been at least a sophomore (four semesters) and an active member of the program.
