NORTH CANTON, Ohio - The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced their 2022 NCAA Division II Men's and Women's Track & Field All-Academic Athletes and Teams last week.
Overall, over 800 student-athletes were selected for All-Academic honors and over 200 teams in Division II earned All-Academic Team accolades. All-Academic Team honors are based on the cumulative GPA for a school's NCAA Squad List, as long as they are above a team threshold of 3.0. To be considered All-Academic on the individual front, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.25 cumulative GPA (with at least 24 semester hours completed) and have achieved an NCAA Indoor/Outdoor Track & Field Automatic or Provisional qualifying mark.
After 11 last year, ten student-athletes between the two teams claim All-Academic distinction from the USTFCCCA. For the ninth straight year, both the Men's and Women's teams were All-Academic Teams. The Men's team had a 3.395 GPA, good enough for 15th place in D2. The Women's team GPA was 3.572, which ranked 29th in Division II.
The following Walsh student-athletes were All-Academic, listed with major.
|Michael Cornathan||Exercise Science|
|Chandler Wilhelm||Education (Math)|
Within the G-MAC, the Men's team had the 2nd highest GPA while the Women's team was third highest within the conference schools.
For cross country, Bauer, H. Moore, N. Moore, and Roberts earned All-Academic awards back in February.
Conrad and Wilhelm earned their third All-Academic T&F honor while Roberts has two T&F accolades in his career.
