(NEW ORLEANS) – The Week 5 Regional Rankings have been posted by the USTFCCCA and Walsh was able to jump up in both the women's and men's polls after tremendous finishes at Lewis this past weekend. Both teams were able to move up two spots with the women's team now at No. 2, while the men's team is now situated at No. 4.
The women were able to make the two-spot jump after finishing fourth at the Lewis Crossover behind three NCAA Division II powerhouses. Grand Valley State won the event and continues its stronghold at the top position, but the Cavaliers were able to jump Hillsdale and Southern Indiana.
Hillsdale, Northern Michigan, Malone, Cedarville, Southern Indiana, Michigan Tech, Bellarmine, and Ferris State round out the top 10.
On the men's side, Walsh moved up to No. 4 after a seventh-place finish, also behind Division II powerhouses. Grand Valley State, Southern Indiana and Lewis were three of the teams that beat Walsh and went 1-2-3 in the men's rankings for the third-consecutive week in the regional poll.
The Cavaliers did jump both Malone and Bellarmine, who are in this week's fifth and sixth spots, after defeating both teams at Lewis. Cedarville, Saginaw Valley State, Michigan Tech, and Hillsdale complete the top 10.
Walsh is off this week before heading to the Music City for the G-MAC Championships next weekend. Trevecca Nazarene University will serve as the host.
