Big John Hornyak delivered on the diamond on his way to Wall of Fame status from 1984 to 1986. The right-handed hitting first baseman/designated hitter compiled a .387 lifetime average. Hornyak blossomed his senior year driving a record 41 runs in 35 games, with five homers and a Walsh record .442 average. He received numerous honors as a senior, being named All-Mid-Ohio Conference, All-District 22 and to the Area VI team. He also earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors in 1986 and was team MVP the same year.
