Coy, Cavaliers Finish Second at Pre-National Meet

(PITTSBURGH) – Walsh's first look at the national championship track was a good one as it finished second at the Pre-National hosted by Slippery Rock at Schenley Park. The Cavaliers turned in a team score of 91 with Brianna Coy leading the way with a second place finish individually in the Steel City.

Coy set a pace of 5:55 and crossed the finish line at 22:05, bested only by Mount Olive's Leah Hanle who finished at 21:54. Colorado Mines won the team event easily with a team score of 37 and had four runners in the top seven.

The second Cavalier to cross the finish line was Claire Robertson who was exactly a minute behind Coy to finish 12th in the individual standings. Andra Lehotay was next for the Maroon and Gold with a time of 23:18 for 23rd.

Alyssa Viscounte was right behind her to cap the top 25 with a time of 23:27. Alexa Leppelmeier completed the team score with a time of 23:34 and finished 29th.

Hannah Soehnlen and Katelyn Luther completed the team of seven for Walsh with times of 24:05 and 24:08, respectively.

The Cavs will return to competition in a couple of weeks when they host the G-MAC Championships. Those races will be held at GlenOak High School at 11 a.m. and noon on Saturday, Nov. 3.
