(ROMEOVILLE, Ill.) – No. 10 Walsh had another strong race as it finished sixth out of 28 in the Lewis Conference Crossover that featured some of the nation's best teams. The Cavaliers finished with a score of 201 and edged Queens (N.C.) for the sixth spot things to better performances by the sixth and seventh runners.
Brianna Coy paced the Maroon and Gold with a time of 22:26.20 and was edged out by UIndy's Lauren Bailey by thousandths of a second for 13th. Claire Robertson followed for the Cavaliers in the 27th position with a time of 22:51.00. Alexa Leppelmeier wasn't too far behind and finished 33rd with a time of 22:57.90.
Western Colorado breezed to the win in the team standings with a score of 38 as it had the top three runners. Simon Fraser finished second at 146. Azusa Pacific (151), Western Washington (175), and Pittsburg State completed the top five with 181.
The Cavaliers are now off for two weeks and will return to action in Pittsburg on Saturday, Oct. 20. It will be an important meet as it will give Head Coach Rob Mizicko's crew a preview of the course where the national championships will be held.
