No. 12 Cavaliers Queens Of All-Ohio Championship

(NORTON, Ohio) – The Walsh men and women's cross country teams let the rest of the colleges and universities in the state know that they can run with anyone. That's because both squads came away from Saturday's All-Ohio Championships with first place hardware.

On the women's side, the No. 12 Cavaliers cruised to a first place finish in the Division II/NAIA field with 23 points, well ahead of Cedarville who finished with a score of 55 and Malone at 61. In fact Walsh did so well that if all divisions would have been scored together, the Maroon and Gold would have been second out of 38 teams behind only Division I Toledo and ahead of fellow D-I's Wright State and hosting Akron.

The Cavaliers put all five scoring runners in the top 10 in the divisional grouping with Brianna Coy crossing the finish line first. Her time of 21:42.7 was good enough to put her in the top five in the overall standings.

Claire Robertson followed just a few seconds later at 22:14.2 to place third in the D-II section. Andra Lehotay was fourth with a time of 22:26.2, Alyssa Viscounte was sixth at 22:31.6, and Alexa Leppelmeier was ninth at 22:37.3 to complete the Cavaliers' top five. In the overall field, the quintet all finished in the top 31.

Hannah Soehnlen and Macy Lynch were the sixth and seventh runners for the Cavs. Soehnlen's clock stopped at 22:23.5, while Lynch crossed the finish line at 23:38.3.

The Cavaliers will have another loaded meet next week when they head to Lewis University for a conference crossover. That race will take place Saturday at 10 a.m.
