(INDIANAPOLIS) – Lauren Loucks powered Walsh to a pair of victories on the road last weekend and has been named the G-MAC's East Division Player of the Week as a result. It's the second time this season the junior outside hitter has earned the weekly honors after she did so the first time for Week 4.
In the first match on Friday, Loucks pounded down 15 kills on 27 attempts with only two errors for a hitting percentage of .481 in a three-set win over the Fighting Scots. Six of them came in a dominating first set that Walsh won 25-11.
Saturday was even more impressive as Loucks spiked 22 attempts successfully in 46 tries as Walsh took down Ohio Dominican in four sets. She was once again high in her attack percentage with a mark of .435.
Over the seven sets, Loucks averaged 5.29 kills with a hitting percentage of .452. She scored 5.64 points per set as well. Those marks ranked second, third, and fourth amongst all players.
Overall Walsh now stands at 12-8 overall and 9-3 in the East Division while holding onto the tiebreaker over Malone. The Cavaliers will be in non-conference regional action this week in Indianapolis at the Volleyball Crossover. Walsh will take on Lewis and Rockhurst from the GLVC on Friday before squaring off against Saginaw Valley State from the GLIAC on Saturday.
