(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - Walsh (4-14, 1-10) lost its second Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match of the weekend, when they were beaten in three sets by Saginaw Valley State University (12-7, 7-4) today. The Cavs fell in five sets to Lake Superior State last night. Walsh has dropped its last six matches.
The Cardinals scored 13 of the first 16 points in the first set, and breezed to a 25-9 set win.
The Cardinals took a 2-0 set advantage, leading from start-to-finish and winning 25-14. Walsh trailed 8-3, before a rally cut the lead to 8-7. The Cardinals would then score seven of the next nine points to pull away.
Saginaw completed their sweep of the Cavs winning set three 25-16. Walsh held an early 4-3 lead when the Cardinals scored nine of the next ten points to take control of the match.
Brooke Logan (Fr., Cincinnati, OH/McNicholas) led Walsh with four kills. Haley Howell (Fr., Clarkston, MI/Our Lady of the Lakes) dished out 16 assists and Krissy Sokol (Fr., Akron, OH/Archbishop Hoban) led the Cavs with nine digs.
Walsh will compete in the GLIAC/GLVC Crossover Tournament in Aurora, IL next weekend.
