(HILLSDALE, MICH.)- Walsh (17-13, 6-4) splits a midweek double header against Hillsdale (11-11, 5-5). The Cavaliers dominated In the opener winning in five innings 11-0. The Chargers took the night cap by a score of 4-0.
An offensive explosion in the fourth inning led to nine of the Cavaliers eleven runs. Leah Roten started off the inning with a single through the left side. Jessie Rock followed with a two-run homerun to right center. The Cavalier were able to load the bases on single by Annie Woolf and Abbey Yaugher while Brooke Six reached on an error. Rebekah Hoffee flew out to second base allowing pinch runner Cali Frascone to score. Back to back singles by Alex Depue and Roten each scored a run. Rock blasted her second homerun of the inning over the left field fence scoring Roten and Depue. A double by Roten in the top of the fifth scored the final run for the Cavaliers.
Roten was 4-4 with a double and three RBI. Rock was 2-3 with two homeruns and five RBI.
Olivia Pifer (11-5) recorded her league leading eleventh win striking out two and scattering five hits in the complete game shutout.
The Cavaliers offense struggled to get going in Game Two. Yasmine Rivera recorded the only hit for Walsh coming in the third inning. Frascone and Rock both reached base by way of free passes.
Shelbi Gregg (2-6) took the loss for the Cavaliers in the circle giving up seven hits over six innings of work.
The Cavaliers are back home Thursday as they make up a previously postponed game against Alderson Broaddus. The double header is set for 3 p.m.
