Cavs Fall to Mount Olive

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) - There wasn't much that Walsh could do in a 20-3 loss to visiting Mount Olive at Vasco Field on Saturday afternoon. The Cavaliers are now 2-6 on the season as they look ahead to a road trip to Fanciscan on Tuesday in Steubenville at 4 p.m. The Trojans were playing in their regular season finale and will look ahead to the post season with a record of 12-2.

Walsh scored the first goal in what was a slow moving first quarter as Mason Axline (Sr., Green, OH/HS) scored on an assist from Ian Maurer (Sr., Jackson, OH/HS) with 8:45 to go. The lead didn't last long as just over a minute later Mount Olive tied the game. The Trojans didn't stop there and took the lead 31 seconds later en route to nine-straight goals.

Maurer eventually put the Cavs on the scoreboard again with a goal on the assist from Bryan Crim (Sr., Reading, PA/Exeter) to make the score 10-2 with just over a minute left in the second quarter. Crim scored a goal of his own unassisted with 5:34 left in the third quarter.

Mount Olive controlled the ground ball count 35-25 and want the majority of face-offs by a 16-9 count. The Trojans also benefited from extra-man opportunities as they converted on 4-of-5.
