Cavs Shut Down By Storm

(PAINESVILLE, Ohio) – Defense was the name of the game as Walsh was defeated by Lake Erie by an 18-5 count on a sunny Friday afternoon. The Cavaliers are now 3-7 on the year and 1-5 in the ECAC. The Storm improve to 8-3 overall and have yet to be defeated in conference action with a 6-0 mark.

Lake Erie controlled the game from start to finish as it scored the first six goals of the game and shut out Walsh until the 6:03 mark of the second quarter. It was then that Ian Maurer (Sr., Jackson, OH/HS) scored on an assist from Alex Hudgens (Fr., South Lyon, MI/HS). The duo paired up again for the last score of the half with eight ticks left on the clock to make the score 8-2.

Mason Axline (Sr., Green, OH/HS), Josh Jacobs (Sr., Columbus, OH/Hilliard Darby), and Ben Stephens (Sr., Murrysville, PA/Franklin) added the other scores for the Cavaliers. Axline figured into the last two goals as an assist man for Jacobs and Stephens.

Walsh returns to the field for its final game of the regular season against Ohio Valley University. That game will take place on Saturday, April 26 and will be Senior Day for the Cavaliers.
