(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – A 3-point shooting contest broke out at Alumni Arena, but unfortunately for Walsh, it wasn't able to pull out the victory against Hillsdale with a 102-98 defeat in overtime. The Cavaliers (14-9, 7-9) and Chargers (12-11, 8-9) combined for 30 triples in the game.

Hillsdale had the upper hand behind the arc on this night as it scored 18 from deep compared to the 12 for the Cavs. Both teams were impressive overall from the field as each made over half of its shots.

Zac Carter nailed one of those 3-pointers to send the game to overtime on an assist from Trey Fletcher with 42 seconds left. Both teams failed to convert on their next trips down the floor leaving the Chargers with the final possession, but the visitors missed two shots with the final one being pulled down by Fletcher to send the game into overtime.

Steven Carpenter gave Walsh its only lead in the extra period after a layup made the score 97-96 with 51 seconds left, but the Chargers responded with a layup of their own and held on from there.

Carter finished with a game-high 28 points and was 9-of-19 from the field. He was responsible for five triples on seven attempts from behind the arc. He added six assists and five rebounds.

Fletcher totaled 20 points to move into sixth all-time in Walsh history in points as he passed Wall of Famer Billy Jo Williams. He now has 1,656, 38 shy of Bob Boldon.

Chandler Vaudrin easily had the best game of his freshman campaign as he recorded a season-best 17 points and tied a season-high with 12 rebounds. On top of that, he was three assists shy of a triple-double. He was 7-of-10 from the field.

Fellow starters Carpenter and Jameel Moore both finished in double-figures as well. Carpenter was nearly perfect for the night with 18 points on 8-of-10 from the floor. Moore totaled 11.

The Cavaliers will look to rebound against Ohio Dominican at home on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m.
