(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – Trey Fletcher and Zac Carter combined for 52 points, but it wasn't enough as Walsh fell to Ohio Dominican by a score of 85-75 at Alumni Hall. The Cavaliers' (13-5, 6-5) four-game win streak was snapped in the process, but they still remain a half-game ahead of the Panthers (11-7, 6-6) in the GLIAC Standings.
Fletcher scored 29 points on 11-of-24 from the field and was a rebound shy of a double-double. As a result, he moved into ninth place on the all-time list for points scored for the Cavs after passing Todd Brown and J.R. Ogletree.
Carter, who came into the game tied for third in the nation in points per game, counted for 23 points as he went 8-of-17 from the field with three 3-pointers. Jameel Moore joined the duo in double-figures with 12 points on a 5-of-10 day.
ODU was aided by a balanced offense where six Panthers scored in double-figures. Hasan Varence led the way with 16 points.
The game was back-and-forth for the majority of the contest. Neither team led by more than six points during the entire first half. That advantage came early as Carter sank a second consecutive 3-pointer to give Walsh an 8-2 lead. After that, the neither team faced a deficit of more than four points until the second half.
Near the beginning of the second half, the hosts used a 16-6 run to take a 56-50 lead with 15:09 to go in the game. The Cavaliers fought hard for the rest the regulation, but couldn't get over the hump as ODU stretched the lead out in the final minutes.
The Cavs now return home for their next two games as they take on Ashland and Tiffin for Wall of Fame Weekend. Walsh will host Ashland first for Sonic White Out Night with tip-off against the Eagles set for 7:30.
