Walsh Looks For Early Season Sweep Of Malone

(CANTON, Ohio) - Once again Walsh and Malone will do battle on the hardwood as the two rivals tip-off at Osborne Hall tonight at 8 p.m. The Cavaliers (3-0) defeated the Pioneers (1-2) two Saturdays ago 93-68.

The first meeting was the earliest Walsh and Malone have met in the regular season. This game will mark the first time in series history that both games have been played so early in the season. The win in the 53rd Mayors' Cup was Walsh's 10th consecutive both in the overall and cup series.

Walsh is coming off of a 78-73 victory over former and future conference rival Cedarville on Thursday. The win was the 300th of Head Coach Jeff Young's career. He accomplished the feat in 382 games, one of the fastest in the history of college basketball, regardless of division or association.

Trey Fletcher leads the Cavaliers with 20.7 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Zac Carter controls the offense with 4.7 assists per game.

Malone is coming off of its first win of the season, a 71-67 win at Alice Lloyd over the weekend. The Pioneers are led by Ty Jordan with 16 points per game. Mitchell Spotleson is the top rebounder with six rebounds a game.
