Cavs Open Season With Crossover, Mayors' Cup

(NORTH CANTON, Ohio) – Another season is about ready to start and Walsh will waste no time getting into the thick of the season with games this Friday and Saturday at home. The Cavaliers will open with future conference rival Ohio Valley University and follow up with arch rival Malone in the 53rd Annual Mayors' Cup.

Both games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m. are a part of a four-game weekend as Walsh hosts a portion of the GLIAC/G-MAC Crossover. Hillsdale will also play the Fighting Scots and Pioneers alternating teams with the Cavaliers and play the first games of the evening at 5 p.m.

Saturday's game against Malone will also serve as a "Black Out" with all fans of the Cavaliers encouraged to wear black. Walsh is 5-0 all-time against the Fighting Scots and have won the last nine Mayors' Cup games against the Pioneers.

Walsh is coming off its annual exhibition with Ohio State this past Sunday, a game in which it remained competitive despite an eventual 85-67 loss.

Trey Fletcher picked up where he left off last season as he led all scorers with 26 points. Zac Carter joined him in double figures with 15 points.

Other highlights included Andy Brunet leading the game with nine rebounds despite the Buckeyes holding a large height advantage at all positions of the court. Overall, Walsh trailed in the rebound department by a slim 42-40 margin at the end of the game.
